Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Foden has developed a range of options for its 2000 Series 17-tonners which are designed to enhance their appeal to long-haul operators.

About 30% of all 17-tonners are specified with engines developing more than 200hp (149kW), says Foden's managing director Rod Heather. So, as predicted by Commercial Motor (26 April-2 May), the 134kW (180hp) 6BTA Cummins engine will be backed by a charge-cooled Perkins Phaser 210Ti option developing 156kW (210hp) at 2,500rpm and 690Nm (5081bft) at 1,400rpm.

Orders have already been received for the higher powered variant; the first examples are due to enter service early next year.

Also new to the 2000 Series is the ZF Ecolite S6-66 all syncromesh gearbox, which joins Eaton's 4106 and 6109 boxes. Completing the longhaul package is a sleeper cab option which weighs an extra 45kg and comes with curtains, storage nets and 12/24V sock ets. The 2000 Series was launched in March as Foden's first concentrated venture into the 17-tonne rigid market. The Phaser engine/sleeper-cab package adds around 23,000 to the chassis price.
