D. N. Locke, present chief transport and movements officer for headquarters UK land forces, has been appointed to the new post of director-general of the Chartered Institute of Transport. A fellow of the CIT. Brig Locke will take up his new post in April when A. C. Griffiths will relinquish his post of secretary-general. Mr Griffiths will be retained as a consultant.
Marcus Beresford has been appointed director and general manager of the vehicle instrumentation division of Smiths Industries Ltd. He was previously director of the company's commercial vehicle special products unit.
Irwin Dalton, general manager of Ribble Motor Services, becomes additionally chief general manager of the North Western division of NCB's Western region, on January 1 1975, in succession to P. H. Wyke Smith.
D. N. Pink, who has been with Vandervell Products for 22 years, has been appointed manager of the company's replacement parts division. J. A. Jukes, 57, has succeeded J. Garlick at the DoE as director-general, highways. Mr Jukes will still retain his responsibilities for the Road Safety and the Vehicle Engineering and Inspection Directorates.
John Frederick Dent, 37, has been appointed general sales manager for the truck and bus division of British Leyland. Previously manager of BL's power systems operation, Mr Dent will be reporting to Peter Redfern, sales marketing director of the truck and bus division. Tony Jolliffe, previous truck service manager in Me bourne, Australia, has bee appointed southern area fie1 service engineer by MA Concessionaires GB Ltd.
