IGNORANCE of the law regarding heavy goods vehicle driving licenses resulted in William Francis. Treetops, North Side, Hirtley, appearing before the Northern Licensing Authority, Mr J. A. T. Hanlon, on Monday.
Mr Francis had claimed a Class 1 licence hut had not had the required experience during the qualifying period. He told the L.A. that he was not familiar with the law and did not know that if he wanted a Class I licence, he would have to take a test. He would amend the application to one for a Class 3 licence..
He added that he was in business as an asphalter and also as a motor dealer and haulier, holding an 0 licence for two vehicles. He had held an ordinary driving licence for many years without endorsement.
The I.A. granted a Class 3 licence.
