MR. A. C. SHERWOOD has been appointed buyer of Jack Miller West Street Motors (East Grinstead), Ltd.
MR. C. D. O'SuLuvart has been re-appointed president, and MR. T. S. DALLY vice-president, of the Society of British Paint Manufacturers.
Ma.. TREVOR M. B. GUY, who was recently elected to the board of Guy Motors, Ltd., has been appointed service director. He is the younger son of the company's founder, MR. SYDNEY S. Guy.
MR. J. A. STANLEY and MR, E. ADDIS, of the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co. (Great Britain), Ltd., are in the United States discussing commercial tyre mileage and operation. They will return early next month, MR. E. JACKSON, home sales manager of the Rover Co., Ltd., will retire at the end of December after 57 years with the company. He reached retiring age some years ago, but continued to serve at the company's request.
MR. D. A. C. BENNETT. chief executive of the Brazilian manufacturing company operated by the Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., has been appointed London overseas sales manager for Dunlop. He has been with the Brazilian concern for 11 years.
BETTER MAINTENANCE SOUGHT
OPENING the new transport maintenance depot of Reed Transport, Ltd., at Aylesford, Kent, last week, Mr. Harold Watkinson, Minister of Transport, said that he was anxious to make large undertakings more interested in road safety and good vehicle maintenance.
Use of the depot, he added, would probably enable the company to reduce their transport costs, and a cutting of expense in this sphere was as important as in production.

THE Southern Area of the Road Haul
' age Association has now issued a 1957 edition of its directory of hauliers. As in the case of the Northern Area directory (The Commercial Motor last week), towns are listed alphabetically, and the operators in each also appear in alphabetical order. The types of vehicle operated and the services available are indicated.
LORRY FLEET QUADRUPLED
ROAD mileage in Dominica rose from I N. 780 to 2,700, from 1936-56. The number of goods vehicles advanced from 2,444 to 6,036. There are now 452 buses compared with 33 twenty years ago.
Dominica is in the dollar area, but has a free-trade policy. Britain is one of her best customers and British trade is welcomed.
