Bogus LGV licences could cause 'carnage'

FAKE LGV LICENCES are being sold on the internet as a £250 'novelty' item, according to an investigation conducted by the BBC.

Lorry drivers in Kent hinted at the availability of the forgeries, complete with a hologram, photograph and room for the buyer to insert personal details such as their date of birth and signature.

There's concern that by using a counterfeit licence, unqualified drivers may be able to get a job driving.

Mike Rudd, operations director at haulier Seymour Transport, in Maidstone, told the BBC: "There are unlicensed drivers with 44 tonnes of truck behind them potentially causing carnage."

The DVLA said those who are using fake licences were risking a possible 10-year prison sentence. The details of the website have been passed on to the police.
