Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Ivaco let Commercial Motor use the Balocco proving ground in northern Italy to get an idea of what the new Eurocargo is really like.

First up we checked out the 75E17 fitted with the day cab and drowside body, powered by the 170hp Teeter engine. The 7.5 to 12.0 tonne versions have one step, 50cm from the ground, up into the cab.

We took it around a tight winding course and even though we rarely ventured above fourth on the sixspeed box, we got a comfortable feeling from behind the wheel on how it would handle in urban conditions. The indicator makes an intrusive noise and with a relatively quiet cab the only reason for forgetting to switch it off should be the very loud stereo system. Overall, the interior borders on the van-like with only the steering wheel and view to remind you otherwise.

We followed this with a 15-tonne 150E24 day cab Eurocargo with low roof, Denman° dropside body and nine-speed box, cruising around the high-speed track at 90km/h. The 15,0-1811 tonne range has two

steps into the cab. On larger models, the interior feels more truck-like as the cab is significantly wider. At 90km/h the noise levels from the 240hp engine are impressively low and despite concentrating on keeping to the right and changing gears with the right hand, it still provided a comfortable environment for the driver.

Finally we checked out the 180E28 with sleeper cab and medium roof with 280hp under the engine COMM Iveco informs us that you can stand up in the new medium-roof option but if you are over six feet tall then a lack of a flat floor will make this difficult— though not impossible. This version came with two bunks, a baggage rack on the rear wall and the optional heated windscreen.

The interior was very spacious and this drawbar application vehicle should provide the driver with more than enough space for sleeping away in the week.

The 'rector driveline is already well established, and the 15.5hp per tonne made the standing start feel more like the 5-tenne version.
