• New Transport Secretary John Prescott demanded a meeting with Eurotunnel bosses earlier this week to discuss alternative designs for its much criticised freight wagons. In a "full and frank" discussion with Eurotunnel on Monday, Prescott discussed the need for there to be a "wider scope in fur ther studies on the design of the lattice wagons". He sug gested that this should teio include taking into account
the use of new technology. Prescott also stressed the need for Eurotunnel to implement all the recommendations which were outlined in the Channel Tunnel Safety Authority report into November's fire
