Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

CURRENT development and arguments about intermodel transport systems will be discussed next month at Transmode 82, an international exhibition being held at Basle.

A panel will consider the European Commission's draft proposals for standardised dimensions for swap bodies, while of more direct concern to road vehicle operators, an argument will be advanced that own-account operators are being excluded from combined transport organisations' activities while the combined operators use taxpayers' subsidies to indulge in legal, environmental, and economic discrimination.

A Trailor spokesman will urge the industry to pay more attention to the value of using monocoque vans, as chassis trailers cost five per cent more to operate than chassisless vans, and chassised swap body vehicles are 25 per cent more expensive. There also will be discussion of water and rail transport in the course of the conference, which runs from June 7 to 9. Further details are available from CSP Conferences, MacMillan House, 54 Cheam Common Road, Worcester Park, Surrey KT4 8RJ.
