The agreement simplifies border controls between the EEC countries and Austria, Finland, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey.

When it enters into force coaches will, in many cases, require only one control document for inspection at frontiers instead of the present three or four.

The new streamlined procedure is designed chiefly for coaches picking up or dropping parties of tourists and for coach tours.

The agreement has been negotiated by the EEC Commission, the first time that the community has acted as one body in the international transport field.
