The Electricar van is intended to compete directly with the current range of internal combustion engined parcel vans, and the makers expect a saving of up to 20 per cent in overall operating costs compared with internal combustionengined equivalents.
The specification includes an electronic controller with regenerative braking and "high energy density" traction batteries.
Features of the design are the purpose-built chassis, specifically designed for batch production at low cost (less than five per cent of the total) and the standard automotive running gear in quantity production.
