THE London Electricity Board has recently taken delivery of this unusual looking Dodge Commando 2 RG 16 from Welford Truck Bodies, of Warley, West Midlands, who supplied the body and Pesci P777/5M hydraulic loader.

Other similarly equipped vehicles have already been supplied to the LEB and other electricity boards throughout Britain.

This vehicle will be used for the transport and installation of heavy switchgear and electrical equipment. Maximum capacity of the Pesci loader is 6,000kg (5.9tons), and 2,000kg (1.97tons) when the fully hydraulic, three stage jib is extended to its maximum reach of 5m (16ft 5in).

The Welford body is of steel/ timber construction and has an internal length of 3.4m (lift 2in). Heavy duty, detachable load securing shackles are fitted into the floor, which has a full length subframe.

Kerb weight of the 4.56m (14ft 11in) wheelbase vehicle, complete with its crew cab, is 7,920kg (7.80ton s).
