Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A N entirely new design of single-deck

bus has been introduced by Coras lompair Eireann and the first examples of this class are to be put into service before the end of the year. Instructions have been given for the building of 173 vehicles of 30 ft. length and 82 of 36 ft. length, the respective seating capacities being 45 and 53.

The vehicles will employ Leyland Leopard chassis with air suspension; they will also have power assistance for steering and handbrake. The two latter features are stated to be the first of their kind to be incorporated in any public service vehicle in Ireland. Production will commence at the Spa Road (Dublin) works of C.I.E. in September and it is expected that the programme take 17 months to complete. The framework for the bodies is being supplied by Metal Sections Ltd.

Sealed windows will be used, the ventilation being provided by air ducts running through the racks. As in the C.I.E. Worldmaster touring coaches, they will connect with personally controlled air jets which the passengers can operate to their own requirements. Three tinted vent panels in the roof are available if additional fresh air is required. A twopiece wrap-round windscreen will be used at the front of the vehicle, the rear being given similar treatment. Laminated plastics will be employed for interior lining and decor.

Interior lighting in this design consists of fluorescent strips above the aisle. In heating, the undertaking's standard practice has been followed, with underseat units utilizing hot water from the engine cooling system. A therrnostatically controlled fan on the engine will come into action as necessary to govern the heating water supplied. The main structural side members are to be formed of aluminium alloy and timber will be used only in flooring. Public address equipment will be a standard feature in each of the buses.
