I note in your magazine that apart from relevant facts, information, the law, countless advertisements and updates on just how badly the haulage industry is doing, there are no stories. Yet almost every other magazine carries at least one, fact or fiction.

Commercial Motor is a specialist magazine, you will no doubt reply, Well, so too are Practical Boat Owner, Men Only, Motor Boat and Engineers Monthly, and they have stories.

I like reading and writing, and have had work published. I am also in the haulage business and have been for 30 years. But I must say, after purchasing Commercial Motor and reading about how J Bloggs had his licence suspended and that Joe Soap Transport has just been fined a million quid for illegally moving immigrants, I'm just as fed up as the rest of us drivers.

So why not a light-hearted story or two? Maybe a murder mystery or, perhaps, a sexy one. Let us owner-drivers take a break from worrying about bankruptcy. Let the agency driver have a good laugh. Let the old-timer rekindle the past.

Keep up the good work. Trevor Johnson,

Stalybricige, Cheshire
