• Nottinghamshire-based HDL Engineering, bought out by its managers from Hillsdown Distribution in January, has taken over Rushcliffe Transport's workshop operations (CM 25-31 January 1989).
HDL Engineering maintains and services the company's 25strong fleet from its Bilsthorpe depot following the closure of Rushcliffe's 011erton depot, which previously maintained the fleet.
The £300,000-a-year contract covers 15 tractive units, 10 eight-leggers, 45 tri-axle trailers and tachograph equipment and analysis.
Four Rushcliffe vehicle engineers have been appointed to operate the annual contract; three staff have been made redundant.
HDL Engineering managing director, Paul Clarke, hopes to clinch further deals with Rushcliffe parent company Hargreaves Industrial Services and the company plans to established a network of 36 commercial vehicle repair workshops throughout the UK.
"We aim to spread throughout the country with no workshop more than 70 miles away from another," he says.
