ENGINE research and development company Ricardo Consulting Engineers has opened a new design and computing centre at its Shoreham-by-Sea headquarters.
The :1.25 million development houses four mainframe computers and enables Ricardo to centralise the bulk of its computing facilities. Computer-aided design is Ricard o 's fastest growing technique. By the end of this year over 70 per cent of the design drawings will be prepared by CAD.
Sir Philip Foreman, president of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and chairman of Short Brothers, opened the new building.
Ricardo employs over 400 people at Shoreham.
