Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

EA Nottingham-based company has failed in its appeal to the Transport Tribunal against the suspension of its 0-licence.

Nottingham Service Contractors' 0-licence was suspended by the Eastern deputy Licensing Authority when the company failed to attend a public inquiry.

For the company, S. Gibson said that he had been unable to attend the inquiry because of a badly gashed leg, suffered in an accident at work on the morning of the inquiry. Gibson said that the accident happened at about 9am. He immediately phoned the court to see if the inquiry could be postponed until after lunch. Gibson said that he then went to hospital, where he was treated quickly. He then phoned his place of work to ask for a lift back from the hospital, and was told that the deputy LA had decided the hearing could not be delayed.

Judge Hampden Inskip suggested that Gibson could have called the court from the hospital and arranged for the public inquiry to be delayed for 10 minutes while he made his way from the hospital. He ruled that Gibson had made insufficient effort to attend, and said that the suspension should continue until the public inquiry is held.
