Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I In our loading strap test (CM 23-29 March 1989) we tested a strap manufactured by Morco (Tarpaulins & Blinds) Limited.

We would like to point out that the comment made by us. "Thin, low grade webbing, loose weave and inadequate end fitting" was based on an initial visual inspection and not on the strap's performance. The fitting did not fail the test or another test carried out for Morco by an independent registered tester.

After stating that the "stitching runs over the edges" we published the comment "highly dangerous". again based on the initial visual inspection by AWLREM rather than the performance in the breaktest. Although we stated that the thread was a different material from the webbing, we are now told that it was a polyester thread, as was the webbing. We regret this error.

We are told all Morco straps come complete with extra wear sleeves as standard and always have done, which enables a haulier to reduce wear and tear in the normal everyday use of the strap assemblies.

An independent test has subsequently been done on one of Morco's 10,0001b straps, which did not break until it was in excess of its claimed breaking strength at 10,3261hs (Ref report PI,/ 3244/89 Bridon Fibres and Plastics).
