• London Buses admits that the venerable Routemaster bus is nearing the end of its life with the company after more than 30 years' service.
There are currently 900 Routemasters in London Buses' fleet, all built by Park Royal in the 1950s and 1960s.
London Buses says it is considering several options to replace the Routemasters, including the fitting of new engines, and the special development of a new prototype open-platform double-deck bus.
