The London Regional Passengers' Committee has renewed calls for a blanket ban on smoking. Chairman Dr Eric Midwinter says: "Our research has shown that there has been a very significant change in attitudes to smoking on buses, with smoking bans being introduced by bus companies all over the country.

LI Yorkshire Rider introduced a smoking ban on Monday following surveys which showed that 80% of passengers would welcome a smoking ban. YR's Microrider services have been smoke-free from their start two years ago.
