Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Stagecoach subsidiary Cumberland Motor Services has bought the coaches and bookings of Stephensons of Maryport, a move which further consolidates its dominant operator position in Cumbria. Stephensons ran no bus services, but had some registered contracts which have now gone to Cumberland subsidiary Kirkpatricks. The sale follows the death of one of Stephensons partners. Premises were not involved in the deal, nor the associated taxi and limousine business.

Cumberland's latest purchase follows those of Yeowarts of Whitehaven, Kirkpatricks of Bingham and the bus routes of Brownriggs, Egremont. With Smiths, Maryport, having withdrawn competition, CMS now runs all the local services along the Cumbrian coast.
