Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• All Leyland Daf Roadtrains will be fitted with the Eaton Twin Splitter 12-speed gearbox as standard from this summer. The Twin Splitter replaces the 10-speed Spicer SST 1410 constant-mesh gearbox which has been the standard transmission for the Roadtrain since it was first introduced in 1980.

Leyland Daf says the change in the standard transmission choice is a response to driver and operator demand. The 12speed Twin Splitter should pro duce better fuel consumption, with more efficient use of en gine power and torque, and extended clutch life.

The Spicer 1410 transmission will he available as a "no cost" option.

El Assembly of engines at the Leyland plant in Lancashire has resumed. However, Leyland Daf says the operation is a modest one, producing around 3,000 engines a year and employing around 20 people. All the 6.2-litre Daf engines produced will be earmarked for trucks built at the plant.
