• Federal Express UK's Systemline logistics and distribution management division is sustaining its record of rapid growth with turnover of 228m for the financial year 1988/89, up some 57% on the 1987/88 figure of 218.3m, says the company's marketing manager Rob Kelly.
"We are continuing to grow by winning new logistics management and contract distribution customers and developing new levels of service," he explains.
The company expects to keep the momentum going throughout 1989/90 by con firming to develop in two strong markets for logistics management — automotive parts and brown goods and through "diversification into other sectors", according to Kelly. The Systemline operation is now part of the 2150m plus Federal Express European Logistics Management Division which includes the recently acquired Elbe transport group operating in West Germany and Transport Groep Alvracht in the Netherlands. "We plan to develop and integrate the services of these companies and extend our growth through acquisition throughout the rest of north Europe," says Kelly.
Systemline's payroll has also increased by more than 300 personnel over the past two years and its CV fleet has nearly doubled to 304.
