• Shelvoke Dempster has begun demonstrating its latest Revopak 11 wheeled-bin refuse collection vehicles, which have a new three-man 'day cab and use the 156kW (214hp) Daf engine.
The Zoller bin lift gearequipped models, which can handle most existing types of wheeled bins, are available with 19 or 23m' bodies on chassis from 22 to 24.39 tonnes GVW, and with a choice of three or six-man crew-cabs.
For the Revopak 11 models SD has modified the shape of the hopper floor and uses thicker (5.0mm) high-tensile alloy steel. In place of the toothed compaction plate used on existing open-backed Revopak 1 models, the new model features a continuouslysweeping plate that follows a semi-elliptical path to lift and compress refuse into the body. It operates on a 12-second cycle: the hopper has a capacity of 1.3m3.
improvements to SD's other models include heavy-duty taper bearings at the drive rain anchors and a revised splined driveshaft seal unit to allow positive pre-loading of the bearings.
