• A new purpose-built training workshop for the vehicle industry is to be built in Livingstone on the initiative of the Scottish Vehicle Builders and Repairers (Group Training) Association.
The project, which is being financed by the Road Transport Industry Training Board, includes a 750m2 (8,000ft2) workshop that will provide places each year for up to 1,000 adult and junior trainees in the industry.
Most will come from Scotland and the north of England.
However, a number of courses will be offered throughout the UK.
Reaction to the venture has been positive so far, with offers of assistance from a number of sources, including Dataliner which specialises in vehicle body straightening.
