Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AVERAGE haulage rates have been published by the Freight Transport Association as a guide for members. They are given in a report, The Manager's Guide to Transport Costs, which also includes sections on vehicle costs, finance and wages.

It is being sold to FTA members only for £47. Average rates per load are put at £120 plus 64p per mile, with a top rate of i:150 pips 96p per mile and a minimum of £70 plus 38p per mile, for distances up to 200 miles.

The average tonnage rate is £3.50 per tonne plus 3.8p per mile for loads over 20 tonnes, the report says.

The ETA's Martin Downer said that the survey has been expanded and improved", although rates between major industrial centres have been dropped from previous reports.

Haulage buyers using the report will be able to monitor trends and tro look at the rates quoted as a yardstick against which they can judge what they are paying their own hauliers, he said.
