David Hall has been promoted to manager of Christian Salvesen's Lowestoft depot. He joined the company straight from Durham University in 1977 and his-management training has included a period as personal assistant to the managing director, Daniel Stewart.

London Transport has named David Thursfield as engineering director (buses). Mr Thursfield took up his new post last week and is responsible for bus engineering policy, design and development, and management of bus workshops. He joined London Transport from British Leyland where he was plant director of the Rover plant in Solihull. Before that he had been at British Leyland's Longbridge and Cowley plants, where he was production manager and manufacturing manager respectively.
