Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Problems are arising with ASR-equipped vehicles during tachograph calibration.

With the rear wheels spinning and the fronts stopped the ASR assumes there is a drive wheel spin and applies the rear brakes via the ABS while reducing engine power in an effort to correct the condition.

While an ABS unit simply registers a fault which can be wiped after calibration, ASR-equipped vehicle brakes can be damaged during calibration. To prevent this ASR systems must be disconnected before calibration starts.

Before disconnecting or connecting the system the power must be switched off, either by operating the isolator switch or disconnecting the battery.
