Stanley Hutchinson, who has relinquished his positions _ as general manager of Holdsworth and Hanson (Leeds. B.T.C.). Ltd., and managing director of J. S. Hutchinson (B.T.C.), Ltd., Halifax. The two coach concerns both operate excursions and tours to resorts in the north of England.

EQUIPMENT MONOPOLY: INQUIRY REFUSED I N the House of Commons last week,

Mr. G. R. Strauss, Minister of Supply, refused to refer to the National Advisory Council for the Motor Industry the question of a monopoly in the motor industry in the supply of certain types of equipment.

Mr. Edelman said that the monopoly had caused the cost of manufacturing vehicles to be inflated. Mr. Strauss replied that he understood that some time ago there was a considerable disparity in price between British and American equipment, but he was informed that it had now largely disappeared.

NEW BATTERY CONTAINER

40NOBLOC containers, moulded in IV/ shock resistant and acid proof ebonite, are now being used for ExideIronclad and Exide batteries. They

are strongly constructed, . being strengthened at the more vulnerable points, and have reinforced lifting handles moulded integrally with the container. Before dispatch from the makers, each container is subjected to a high-voltage dielectric test to check insulation and detect flaws.
