Hardly a week goes without some new story appearing press which feeds the myth that somehow speed cam "unfair. In fact I can't remember the last time anyone s me: "Yeah I got flashed — it was my own fault." It never i most recent alibi/mitigation/excuse (choose your favot heard is that car drivers are using the "wrong gear" to drive through built-up areas so they're more likely to exceed a 30mph limit. I can hear it now: "Your Worship, my client is guilty of nothing more than trying to save precious fossil fuel by choosing fiftlrecommended by the manufacturerl" Only recently motoring organisations complained vociferously that speed cameras should be painted bi yellow so drivers could see them. Aren't warning signs enough clue? Even if you erected flashing pink neon s over every Gatso in the country you'd still find idiots se them off. I'd actually put more cameras up — especiall) traffic lights. I've never seen so many drivers running r as I do nowadays, and the antics of these lethal chanc make the heavy-footed brigade look a bunch of like ju delinquents. If motorists of every stripe can't stop spe( then we shouldn't be surprised if we get satellite techr that slows us down whether we want to or not.

After all, wasn't that why truck speed limiters werE introduced: because the haulage industry couldn't t foot off the go-pedal? You think it couldn't happen? V that about HGV limiters too...
