The British Standards institution recently announced Part 2 1970 of BS 4613 relating to tyre gauge standards, which follows the publication in August 1970 of Part 1 of this standard. While Part 1 deals with the indicating-bar portable type of gauge, Part 2 specifies the requirements Of the dial portable type, These cover the dimensions, construction, materials, accuracy and reliability of the instrument to ensure that gauges complying with the standard give a long trouble-free life.

Manufacturers who make instruments to BS 4613 may apply to BSI to use the BS Kitemark quality assurance symbol under licence. This symbol provides an independent assurance that the. products with which it is associated comply with a British Standard and this is backed by a programme of unannounced works visits and product testing by BSI engineers.
