• Only 15 letters have been received by Tyneside Passenger Transport Authority in response to a two months' campaign asking travellers to put forward suggestions for improving services. Notices about the campaign were posted in 450 buses. Most of the letters received were complaints about buses not turning up and other difficulties caused by staff shortages. There were, however, recommendations that bus timetables should be attached to bus stops so that would-be travellers knew when buses were due and that bus crews should receive a bonus based on the number of passengers carried.
