• Talks are continuing between Newcastle upon Tyne Corporation and British Railways over the redevelopment of the Central railway station at Newcastle, involving the creation of a dual-purpose station serving both road and railways. The Marlborough Crescent bus station, a short distance from the Central station will be moved to the Central station area if the plans materialize.
