• A new travel centre at Buchanan Street, Glasgow, was opened on Wednesday for the Scottish Transport Group by the Lord Provost, Sir Donald Liddle.
The chairman, Col P. M. Thomas, said at the opening that he wondered why people thought that the transport industry was immune from inflation when a second's reflection would suffice to show that the industry was precisely like any other. This was, he said, a period of increases in fuel costs, tyre rentals and vehicle prices.
