services 'revolutionary safety
• Local authorities in Cumberland are expected to agree to subsidize rural bus services, threatened with closure by Ribble Motor Services and • Cumberland Motor Services. The firms have asked for £50,000 annually to keep uneconomic services going, and although no final decision has been reached, it is reported that the local councils and Cumberland County Council have accepted in principle that a subsidy was needed. Et is understood that the companies have extended the time limit, to the end of February, for the councils to make up their minds on the issue.
