THE provision of two rear lighti on vehicles may be -made compulsory before the proposed date in 1957. The Minister of Transport told Mr. J. Harrison, M.P., in a letter last week: "We are now considering comments upon our proposals submitted by manufacturers and other organizations, and it is quite possible that the date we had in mind originally may be modified. I cannot say yet what final decision May

be reached.

"We shall advance the, date (October 1, 1957) if it is feasible, but I. cannot hold out anyhope that it will be possible to bring, the obligations in regard to rear lights into force for all vehicles by next October, when the obligation in regard to reflectors does come into force."

As reported in The Commercial Motor on January 8, it has been proposed. that all commercial vehicles should have two rear lights as from October 1, 1955.
