Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Lowland Scottish is the first of nine Scottish Bus Group territorial companies to be placed on the market, as predicted in Commercial Motor (CM 8-14 February).

The Galashiels-based firm operates a fleet of 123 buses throughout the Borders region and parts of Lothian. It has 266 staff and during 1988 carried 7.6 million passengers.

Lowland has eight depots, including a site it shared with Northumbria Motor Services in Berwick-on-Tweed.

There has been fierce competition between minibus operators in Berwick-on-Tweed, and Northumbria's parent company, Proudmutual, is understood to be interested in buying Lowland.

The sale may be completed bx April.

Li Kelvin Central Buses' management team stands to get a maximum £48,750 financial assistance for its management employee buyout bid, according to a Parliamentary written reply.

The assistance covers 75% of professional advisers' fees, up to £65,000.

If the bid is successful, no money will be paid.
