Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Carrymaster, the Doncaster-based trailer manufacturer, has gone into receivership and the company is up for sale.

Receiver Peat Marwick and McLintock, of Preston, is hoping to sell the firm, which is currently still trading, as a going concern.

Carrymaster had grown into a major manufacturer by specialising in custom-built trailers during the past 10 years. In 1988, it invested 22.5 million in its Eurofridge plant in an attempt to gain a slice of the refrigerated trailer market.

But the change in economic climate forced Carrymaster to shed 175 jobs from a workforce that once stood at 300.

Other parts of the Carrymaster empire include associated leasing companies Trailer Equipment Hire and ITS Vehicle Rentals.

Trailer Equipment has 139 trailers on lease, contract hire and casual hire, and has a turnover of more than 216 million last year.
