• Renault Truck Industries is to re-organise its distributor network and will set up a secondhand vehicle scheme to boost residual values and provide dealers with additional business.
RTI has some 70 UK dealers, including service dealers, but not all are making adequate profits or have viable territories, so some main distributors are likely to be downgraded to service dealers.
RTI sales director Tony Clinkard says: "We're not interested in propping up the weak — we're intent on building on the strong."
RTI's jointly-run finance company, TFL (Truck Finance Limited) is being "radically reorganised" with a new general manager.
In a bid to stop secondhand Renault models ending up at auctions, RTI will set up its own used-vehicles scheme through its dealer network. This should boost their turnover, not only through secondhand sales, but also through spares and maintenance.
