DATAFRLIGH'f, the National Freight Consortium's computerised load matching system, is poised to go international.
Datafreight, set up in 1980 by BRS, has progressed disappointingly in the UK.
It is now part of Freight Computer Services (FCS), the NFC's computer systems company.
Similar computer-based load matching systems are operating in several European and Scandinavian countries, run mostly by hauliers' trade associations.
FCS has been negotiating with them to establish computer links into Datafreight to allow the international exchange of load and vehicle information.
FCS refuses to release more details until the final agree ment is signed, possibly this week.
The Benelux countries and Norway are expected to participate.
Datafreight is now the only computerised load matching service in Britain.
Cargofax, -launched by the Road Haulage Association in 1982 and sold subsequently to Reed Telepublishing, was closed last year.
