AS the •Department,of Transport has announced that a circular has been sent to all lorry.operators with details of opportunities for carrying passengers under the Transport Act 1985, perhaps the following slogans may be of use to them when advertising their services:

As the lunacy of the department seems to know no bounds, it is surprising that the circular stopped at lorry owners. Surely, funeral directors should also be approached to offer their services to passengers on return journey and then they can genuinely claim to utilise "dead" mileage.
