NEW STUDY of the permance of the UK freight lustry transport industry in rope starts this month.
[he Department of Transrt and the Chartered Insti e of Transport have jointly mmissioned the study Lich will be carried out by transport studies group of Polytechnic of Central ndon.
[he aim is to help the CIT represent its members' interests as well as allowing the DTp to know the key priorities when negotiating with the EEC Commission .111d helping the industry win more EEC business.
The study team will seek the views of operators, exporters, importers and freight forwarders in Britain and Europe,
'flie study has two specific objectives. One is to review the extent to which the industry has exploited business opportunities resulting from British membership of the EEC.
'Flie other is to identify ways in which performance might he improved, possibly through changes in legislative and regulatory framework or through improved husi practice.
