A trigger controls the rate of delivery and its length of travel is adjustable by means of a nut at the back. Clear Vision in Coaches 11ANUFACTURED by the KeyPa Leather Co., Ltd., 5, Urswick Road, London, E.9. the K-L demister and defroster is a useful addition to the range of accessories available for public-service vehicles. It has been adopted as standard by Duple Motor Bodies, Ltd., Park Royal Vehicles, Ltd., and Crossley Motors, Ltd., for fitting in the cabs of new coaches, where its small size (9. ins. by 7 ins. by 6 ins.) and high output (140 cubic ft. per minute) are particularly valuable.

An unusual feature of the demister and defroster is that it is a fresh-air unit and is claimed to be practically noiseless. For fitting to the BedfordDuple Vega coach it is provided with four outlet pipes, so that both windscreen panels are completely covered by the heated air. •The heater output when the exterior air temperature is 32 degrees F. is 9,570 B.T.U. per hour. The motor consumption is given as approximately 30 watts, and 6-, 12and 24-volt models are available.

A similar model for half-cabs or goods vehicles has two screen outlets and a louvre for cab heating. A third model is designed as a heater. unit with no hose outlgts and is for ambulances. The basic price Or the unit, without accessories, is given as £10.

New Hymatic Compressor ANEW compressor put into production by the Hymatic Engineering Co., Ltd., Redditch, Worcester, has a displacement of up to 7.5 cubic ft. per minute at pressures from 80-100 lb. per sq. in. Its designed speed is 2,000 r.p.m. and it can be belt driven or directly coupled to the source of power.

The bore is 1.97 ins, and the stroke 2.16 ins. The specification includes a finned aluminium cylinder barrel with cast-iron liner, light-alloy piston with two compression ,rings and one scraper ring, a forged-steel connecting rod with roller big-end and plain small-end, and a copper-brazed overhung crankshaft with integral balance weight.

Weighing 36 lb., the compressor absorbs 1.34 h.p. at 2,000 r.p.m. when delivering its full capacity at a pressure of 80 lb. per sq. in.

Pit Lighting in L.T.E. Garages FLUORESCENT inspection-pit lighting is being installed in new Loudon Transport garages and in those converted from former tram depots. The fittings have been designed to London Transport's requirements by the General Electric Co., Ltd.

The fittings take 3-ft. 30-watt lamps. and are so arranged that when mounted on the pit wall the light is directed upwards. Pits used for major inspections are inter-connected by communicating passages, which divide each pit into front and rear portions. Four fittings are mounted in each rear section, illuminating the transmission and rear axle, and two fittings in each front section light the underside of the engine.

Other pits terminate in wide communicating areas at one end, and each has six fittings. In all pits the fittings on opposite walls are staggered so that the lighting is uniform.

Flame Cutting Machine AN improved version of the B.O.C. 36-in, cutting machine incorporates modifications to the cutter and its controls, the oxygen control panel and the speed control for the template follower. This has a new form of drive. There is also a number of small refinements.
