• Tibbett & Britten is about to lose around 50,000 car deliveries a year as vehicle transporter company ECM snatches the northern distribution contract for VAG cars.
But the loss is still good news for Tibbett & Britten's car distribution businesses, Silcock Express and Tolemon, which have just been merged under the name Axial.
From January, Axial had been set to lose the VAG southern distribution contract as well.
Exel Logistics pulled out of the southern import handling and delivery of 60,000 Volkswagen and Audi cars a year ago when its parent NEC sold its car delivery arm to shipping firm John I Jacobs.
