a wage deal which increases the 32-tonne rate from just over £174 to nearly £179 for a 39-hour week (pay including London weighting rises from £196.65 to £201.56). Their acceptance came eight months after the deal was due to be introduced. It gives drivers a 1.75% increase from April to December this year and a 0.75% increase from 4 December to the end of March next year. Overnight subsistence rises from £17 to £18.50; midday meal allowance from £2.26 to £2.50; call-out payments from £3.50 to £3.75; and call-out payments after midnight from £6.50 to £7. Employees with more than three years' service gain the right to a £300 payout if they have to leave work prematurely because of illness.
