Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

bought by the Volvo operator. The service operations are tied closely to the manufacturing operation, and if the same problem recurs regularly as the trucks are serviced, the factory is automatically notified.

It was this close liaison that led to between 30 and 40 modifications being made to the FL6 during its first three months of production, but very few since. As well as keeping a close contact with the manufacturer, the Volvo workshop also listens to any observations that the driver or operator has to offer, as the person who spends his working day driving the vehicle is sensitive to changes that the best trained fitter may miss.

Although one of a new generation of trucks, the FL6 has many traditional features, most notably the wealth of greasing points. At the same time, many of the servicing operations have been reduced to inspections.

The vehicle we look at here is in fairly new condition, having covered a mere 43,500km, and had come in for the L3 service, which should be done every three months. The other major service is the L4, which occurs annually, and differs mainly by requiring the transmission oils to be changed.

As with all Volvo service operations, the operator is charged for the standard time established by Volvo, but with the prying eyes of Workshop in the way, in this case the service took rather longer.

To see how the FL6 is serviced, we went to Dawsons at Coventry, where Jack Lamb, a fitter of many years experience, with the last nine on Volvos, showed us the way. Although he has worked on many different types of truck, he is a firm fan of the Volvo, and along with his colleagues identifies strongly with this marque. by Richard Longworth
