• BRS NORTHERN HINCH Nigel Hinch is the new manager of engineering services at BRS Northern's Grimsby depot. He will oversee vehicle maintenance and repairs, paint ing and signwriting, parts sales and engineering. Hinch is a branch treasurer of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers.

• FREIGHTLINER KITCHING/KERR One of Freightliner's top executives, George Kitching, retires on 26 December after 44 years with the company and British Rail. For eight years he has been manager of Freightliner's Irish container services: he is succeeded by lain Kerr.

• HARPER TRUCKS HARPER Peter Harper, after-sales director of the Manchesterbasd Harper group of companies, is the new chairman of the Iveco Ford Dealer Council. The council represents lveco Ford's 150 truck dealers.

• NATIONAL WELSH CAREY Cardiff-based National Welsh buses has appointed Bruce Carey as training manager. He was previously training manager with R Freeman.

• INMERTRAIL DOAK Bob Doak has been appointed contract hire sales executive by Intertrail, the trailer rental firm. He was previously with Trailerent and is based at Intertrail's Halesowen depot.

• TRANSPORT 2000 MONTEFOIRE The Right Reverend Hugh Montefoire has succeeded actor and writer Michael Patin as chairman of the national transport pressure group Transport 2000. Montefore says that "sensible transport policies are a public necessity, and need to be heard." In 1973 he was chairman of the Independent Cotnission on Transport, Palin will maintain his links with T2000 as its president.

• RENTCO MORLEY/SHIPVVAY Trailer rental firm Rentco has recruited two sales executives. Ian Morley will be based at Rentco's Ossett depot and will cover West Yorkshire and North Manchester. Robin Shipway will work from the Birmingham depot, covering the Midlands.

• TI BAINBRIDGE SILENCERS MOLLOY James Molloy is a new sales representative for T1 Bainbridge Silencers. He is based in Sheffield and reports to depot manager John Fox. Molloy was previously a sales rep with Alpine Laboratories.

• GREEPOIOUS FLEET Arch Fleet, 38, is taking over as head of sales at Vincent Greenhous (Midlands). He comes to the job as the Wednesfield dealer begins a Leyland Daf franchise and will head a sales team of 15.

• UNITED TRANSPORT MATTHEVVS United Transport has made Stephen Matthews a nonexecutive director. He is chairman of Copymore and holds several directorships and interests in the city.

• NEI THOA1PSON PLATT Graham Platt is the new general manager of Thompson Tankers, the West Midlandsbased road tanker and aircraftrefueller manufacturer. Platt joins Thompson from sister company NEI Clarke Chapman where he was sales manager.

• FTA MONTGOMERIE/MOORE Commercial Motor's former engineering editor Graham Montgomerie is shifting roles at the Freight Transport Association. He is leaving his post as editor of Freight, the association's house magazine, to concentrate on his role as the FTA's engineering liaison editor. He will continue to work on Freight as a consultant. Gerry Moore will now edit Freight from the association's press office.
