• Premier Travel Services, the Cambridge-based bus and coach operator, has been acquired by Cambus Holdings, also of Cambridge.
Although services over similar routes are now expected to be more evenly timed, the takeover by Cambus will not cause any immediate changes tif either company.
The Premier name and its blue and silver livery will be retained and the companies will continue to operate under separate management.
Arthur Lainson founded Premier over 50 years ago as a Cambridge undergraduate by running trips to the seaside. He remains a PTS director as do Frank and John Matthews and chief engineer Roy Moore. 0 Renford Sargent and Peter Andrews have made a formal offer for the share capital of the parent company which, subject to acceptance by the shareholders, will give them a controlling interest in the bus and coach group.
Sargent and Andrews plan to become equal partners and concentrate on developing and expanding that company's retail agency chain, holiday operations and Premier Airlines. Lainson, Frank and Matthews have all been invited to continue as directors.
