THE NATIONAL Freight Corporation parcels carrier Roadline has named Gerry Flanagan as its Midlands regional director.

He is currently director of corporate planning at NFC, but takes up his new appointment on January 1. As regional director for Roadline's Midland region, he will control 18 branches from the East coast to the Welsh border, with 1,200 vehicles and trailers and over 1,600 staff.

Colin Evans moves to Frigoscandia to become chief engineer at the company's King's Lynn cold store. Mr Evans joins Frigoscandia from H. J. Heinz where he has been for 17 years, latterly as engineering group manager with responsibility for engineering at Heinz's Standish factory in Greater Manchester.

In his new position Mr Evans will control all engineering functions at the King's Lynn cold store.

Private sector parcels carrier Wilkinson Transport has appointed its first woman sales executive. She is Glenys Bremner who is working out of the company's Bristol depot, and was previously sales assistant there.

Mrs Bremner joined Wilkinson Transport in April this year from another parcels carrier, the SPD group company Carryfast, where she was an administrative supervisor responsible for depot administration and proof of delivery. As sales executive, Mrs Bremner's area is Avon, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Wiltshire and part of Dorset.

Bernie Mason has joined National Carriers' Midland region as sales and marketing manager. He takes up this post after being commercial manager with National Carriers' subsidiary, Fashionflow.

Mr Mason had first joined the sales team of National Carriers at its inception 10 years ago. He will be based at the Midland region head office in Birmingham.

West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive has a new district traffic superintendent for Wolverhampton. He is John Pope, currently district road officer in Dudley.. He was previously with Maidstone and District Motor Services and City of Oxford Motor Services. Mr Pope takes up his position on January 1 and will be based at the district office in Wolverhampton.

Greater Manchester Transport has appointed David Read as senior systems designer for its systems and data processing department. He joins GMT from the City of Manchester computer department where he was a project leader. As GMT's senior systems designer, he will be responsible for systems projects in planning, marketing and finance.

Volvo commercial vehicle dealer, Hallam Commercials, has named William Stevenson as its new managing director. Mr Stevenson was previously responsible for group transport with the Hepworth Iron Company and was managing director of its haulage subsidiary, W. H. Fearn.
