Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Saunders Transport Co, tipper and tanker haulage contractor in the Wm Cory and Son membership of the Ocean Group, has received a patent for its wheel cleaning machine. The patent has been pending since 1968.

The Saunders wheel cleaner was evolved from an idea of Mr Frank May, a director of the company. Muck generally accumulates on the twin driving wheels of tipper type vehicles and is only released when thrown off by centrifugal force while the vehicle is travelling along the road. These conditions are simulated in the Saunders wheel cleaner.

The cleaner consists of a massive heavy duty main frame, fitted with a central roller mechanism and removable grids at each end.

The lorry drives onto the locked rollers. They are unlocked and the rollers spin freely under the wheels' own power. All the mud is thrown off and no water is required.

Says Mr May: "The wheel cleaner saves money. It is easy to instal, requires minimum maintenance and can be operated by the lorry driver himself. And it is also cheap to hire.

Saunders Transport currently has 35 wheel cleaners in operation.
