• Designed to lift and carry an ISO 20ft 20ton container, a self-propelled machine mown as the 20-20 was recently iemonstrated by Walker Lawrence Engineering Ltd, Broomhills Industrial -2state, Rayne Road, Braintree, Essex. It )ffers a cheaper means of lifting loaded ontainers up to this size than a straddle :arrier and can be used for moving the :ontainer over a reasonable distance at a ;peed of 10 mph. Moreover, the container :an be lowered in the travelling position to :liable the vehicle to pass through a loorway with a height of 10ft. And it can ■ e used for lifting the container from ground :vel. Overall lift is six feet.
Ruston hydraulic drive is applied to the ront solid tyred wheels, power being .rovided by a variable-output pump driven y a rear-mounted Perkins 4.236 diesel ngine.
